The Kansas Athletic Director, Lew Perkins retired on Tuesday with an immediate effect. Perkins had retired one year earlier before his retirement. The Athletic Director position will be replaced temporarily by, Sean Lester until the new director was selected.
Earlier in June, Perkins stated that, he will retire in September. Perkins did not state any reason to the media about his retirement.
The Chancellor, Bernadette Gray-Little stated that, “There is no question that Kansas athletics has benefited from Lew Perkins’ leadership and I appreciate his service and understand his decision.”
The Kansas school said that, Perkins will receive an amount of $2 million if he stays until September 2011 and the Associate director; Jim Marchiony is the closest staff member to Perkins.
